Did you know the biggest healthcare breach last year was due to a hacking incident at a third-party printing and mailing vendor?

Well, the biggest breach in 2023 so far was also a third-party breach – at a dental benefits manager – exposing 8.9M patient records from many of the most prestigious healthcare delivery organizations (HDOs) in the industry.

In addition, we are seeing a worrying trend of bad actors successfully breaching Revenue Cycle vendors as a means of exfiltrating PHI and sensitive information – namely, medical billing and collections services. We strongly encourage all HDOs to assess this category of vendors and products immediately.
